More About the Ballband Cloth & An Idea

One thing about the ballband cloth that I hear some people complain about is
the right hand edge being so uneven due to the fact that the knitter attaches
the various contrasting colors at that point. WELLLLLL I decided I would try
my hand at correcting that. If you take a look at the close up of this cloth you
will see how the right edge does not have that 'bumpy' look. I'll tell you
how I did it: When you come to the row on which you add a new color- take
BOTH yarns and work the first stitch as instructed, then drop the old color and continue
as continue across the row as usual with the new color. When you come to the last stitch on the
next row (where you have both the old and new color stitch) drop the old (colored) stitch
and work just the new colored stitch. Give the old color yarn a pull. You don't
have to be afraid, your stitches will not come apart. Then, after you work the next
few rows of the new color, just stop and weave in the beginning tail. Do the same thing for the
ending tail. I did this
as I knitted this cloth and I then did not have all those tails or bumps. I did
NOT cut the main (hot blue) color at all. When I weaved in the tails, I used a
thin crochet hook to pull the tail through the stitches to anchor it. I think
it came out real well. Now, I will work on the left hand side to make it look
less 'bumpy' :)LOL
