I know what sacrifices these men and women and children are making so that our loved ones don't need to. I was a military spouse for 14 years. I know what it's like to look into a little boy's eyes when he asks "When is Daddy coming home?" I know what it's like to be 'in charge' of everything from cutting the grass to taking a hurt child to the ER. Being a spouse of a military person is harder than being a 'single' parent because almost always you are away from your extended family. So friends and neighbors become the ones you lean on when your spouse is deployed. In Hawaii, I found my 'Ohana' was strong enough to help me through those times when it was just me and my boys.
Please remember not only the troops, sailors, and airmen/women, but also the children. As you all know, most of my teaching times has been spent serving military children. They have a lot to bare for such young people. They hear and see and know that there are many people who say that what their parents are doing over 'there' is wrong. But little children don't know all about politics, all they know is their world. And their Daddys and Mommys are their worlds. Please respect them before you speak against what their parents are doing over 'there'. These children have a lot more to worry about than 'what they're going to get for Christmas' they wonder about seeing their Mom or Dad again. Children are so much smarter and more aware than we ever give them credit for.
Please pray for our military & their families. And thank God we had such brave men and women who went before them fighting not only for our own country, but also for the world.
GOD BLESS THEM!!!!
