A Neighbor's Reminder Of What's To Come

I was on my way back to our apartment when a neighbor stopped and wanted to 'chat'. I know this man has been suffering for at least 2 years from cancer and other health problems. So we talked for a while and then he asked me... Are you ready? Did you know that Jesus is coming soon? I said that I am ready and that I am watching and listening for the trumpet sounds. He was so excited about what some people call The Rapture (take a look at the video further down the page on the right under the title "Are You Ready". For those not knowing or having not heard of this event, it will be THE most influential event since the death and resurrection of Jesus. In Matthew 24: 42, Jesus tells his follows that he will come again to take those who are his with him. Amongst the Christian community, there are 3 major views on this event... pre-trib, mid-trib, and post-trib. I, personally believe in the first pre-trib, but that's not really important (I think). The important thing is if you're ready.

To get back to the neighbor story... another neighbor & his wife were walking to their car when the first neighbor stopped and asked the man.... calling him by name, the first neighbor said "You ready for Jesus?" And to my biggest surprise, the second neighbor said "I don't have time for Jesus today". WOW!!! To actually heard those words... I've never heard that before. And the first neighbor then said "Well, you better have time, neighbor" He is coming SOON. None of us know when that will be. I may not even get done with this posting and He could call us. It might be in 100 years, no one knows. All I know is I want to be ready.

I grew up in the 60's & 70's and was part of what people called "The Jesus Movement". I had a wonderful time at Expo '72 which taught young people how to take Jesus & His message into our 'world'. I've never lost sight of the commitment that I made there. And when my group got back to our small town we went right to our school board and won the right for Bible study IN our High School before school, during lunch, and were able to 'witness' to our fellow students after school. We were even asked to speak in classes about our Christian faith in front of our peers. What a blessing. After that people knew what we stood for and we were never EVER made fun of. All of us were very much respected by our friends AND teachers.

One of the songs that we sang when we got together during those times was the song sung on the video below.... I wish we'd all been ready. So many things have come about since we heard these words 30 years ago. If you've asked Jesus into your heart, then you are ready :) If you haven't, please let God speak to you and ask Jesus into your heart. It doesn't matter about what you've done or not done, God's love & grace covers it all. I hope someday to meet you all either in Heaven, or on our way up to meet Jesus in the air.

We had a Christian group come to our church in the early 80's I can't remember their name but they sang this song too. I bought all their albums (yeah no CD's yet, lol) they also sand a song called "He's more then just a swear word"

I still sing both of these songs often.
