My Prayer Book

This week I read an article on How To Make A Personal Prayer Book. The author, Letitia Suk, describes in the article "Creative Connection: How I changed My Picture Of Prayer", how she creates one of these pocket sized scrapbook type books to help her to remember prayer requests for her family & loved ones. After reading the article I just "had" to create one for my prayer & devotional time. In the article, Suk tells us that she uses actual photos in her book, but in the little book that I chose to use, there wasn't room for actual photos. So, I tried to use verses and stickers that pertained to the person that I created the page for. I thought you might like to see my book. The pictures below are the pages, they do not have the prayer requests on them, those are kinda private. The purpose of the little book is so that I can either pop it into my purse when I'm out and about and I have time on my hands (like in the dr office, waiting in line at the grocery, or maybe waiting while Rick runs into a store to pick something up) Those little bits of time can be used wisely if we follow 1 Thessalonians 5: 17 "Pray without ceasing" or when I'm at home and spending time with the Lord. I really liked the way my book came out :) Please excuse the 'blueish' tint of the pictures. The light wasn't really as I would have liked it to be.

This is the cover of the prayer book. On the 3d sticker it says "Life begins the day you start a garden" I choose that one because I thought of my prayers as the seeds that I hope will go deep into my family & friends hearts.

This is the inside of the cover. On the left it says "This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it" Psalm 118:24. And there's a small gold dove right under the scripture. One the right hand side of the book, pg 1, is my page. I will put those requests that I want to make for my needs. There's another 3d sticker. The little girl looks a lot like I did as a child. I don't think I'll ever think of myself as a 'grown up' in Christ. The verse I choose for my page says "And all things, whatsover ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." Matthew 21: 22. I also put a small dove in the right hand bottom corner.

Page 2 & 3 are for Rick (my hubby) and Steven & Shelly (oldest son & daughter in law). On Rick's page there are little message buttons that say "Together" and "Forever". His verse says "With God all things are possible." Mark 10: 27. And his page has a 3d sticker that has a framed heart on it. On Seven & Shelly's page their verse says "With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation" Isaiah 12: 3. Their little message buttons say "Home Sweet Home" and "Love" two things I pray they will always have.

The next 2 pages are for my grandchildren. Weston, Joseph, Andrew, & Mylie. Their Bible verse reads "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." Deut. 6: 5. This is the verse I would always teach my prek children when I was teaching. Their message buttons say "children" and "hugs & kisses". Their 3 d sticker has a picture of a little child in a frame with a flower at its side. And I had to add a little flower for my only grand daughter :)

The next 2 pages are for my son Chris & my Mom and Dad. Chris' message button says "treasure" because that's what he is to me :) and this Bible verse says "No eye has seen, no ear has heard and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him." 1 Cor. 2:9. On my Mom & Dad's page the message button reads "Legacy" their Inspirational word is "Faith" and their 3d sticker has the word "memories" on it. You get the message on their page. I am so thankful and blessed to have them for my parents.

These pages are for my sister, Vicky & Dennis and my brother Jeff & Jeana. Vicky's message button says "sister" and their verse is " To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven. " Their 3d sticker is of a butterfly on a postcard. Ecc. 3:1. Jeff's message button reads "brother" and his verse says " Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the svidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11: 1. Their 3d sticker is of a beautiful iris flower.
These pages are for my stepdaughers Sabrina & Jackie. Their message buttons read "Smiles" and "Delight" which they both have and are. Their inspirational words say "God Bless"
The next page is for my friends who ask for my prayers... Bonnie, Deb, & Lin. Their message button reads "Hold Dear" and their Bible verses read "Love thy neighboras thyself" Lev 19: 18 and "A cheerful heart is like a good medicine" Prov. 17:22. The 3d sticker on their page is one of my favorite things... a bird.

This is the inside back cover. The page to the left is a blank page for any requests that might be made for other requests. On this cover page the verse says "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord" Psalms 150: 6 And another small dove under the verse. You can see the black ribbon that runs through the book that can be tied to close the book.
