Could This happen again?

Sixty-eight years ago to the day, Poland Jews were herded like cattle into the Warsaw Ghetto. Included in the group of people were men, women, children... old and young who did nothing more than be who they were. Today I watched the movie THE PIANIST. I've included in this posting a clip from the film. There are some very provocative ideas that I found quite interesting...
These are quotes from the movie:

• While some Jews watched as their neighbors were slaughtered in the street "It's too absurd" how could this happen to us? I ask... Could this happen to us? Is something like this already happening in our world today? Maybe to Jewish people, maybe to others, but they didn't think it would happen to them. Again I ask... Could this happen to us?
• The Polish peoples never thought it could happen in their country.
  
• Each was allowed to take 15 personal items with them. What would you take?
  
• "People don't even know what's going on around them?" The people in the movie realized that the whole world knew what was happening with them, yet they couldn't understand why no one could see it.
• "There's dignity in fighting back." "Don't let them get you alive"
  
• Propaganda fell from the sky. How curious... today it travels by not only radio waves, but via cables and satellite dishes and Internet connections. But even today it is here. Maybe not he same message, but one that could divide peoples into 'red' and 'blue' states... into 'winners' and 'losers'... into 'Christians and Socialists'...
• "Food's more important than time." Life is more important than things.
• How can any one group of people loose their humanity to the point that it turns our world upside down? that life is not valued at all if that life is not one like your own?
• Where would you go... where would you run... if there's no place to hide?
• God can use an enemy to bring peace and sustain life... for He loves us all, not always what we do... but he loves us.
• Someone may take everything that we have, but the gifts that God puts in us whether music or kindness, or art, or writing, or anything that he gives that helps us to enrich others lives can never be stolen or beaten out of us... for in the things that make us human He lives.

I thought this movie was excellent and expresses what happened to millions of people in lands occupied by Hitler and his regime. God help us that it will NEVER happen again. This is a true story. If you are sensitive to the pain of others please don't watch the video. But even though, please don't forget that this really did happen.
